The broad desert landscape - dotted with rocky hills and sharp formations, resilient cacti and their cousins, and the distinct shapes of Joshua trees - was an awesome place to host this stylized wedding shoot. I had the honor of working with the talented hair and makeup artist Cassy Laessig, beautiful and good-humored models Cory Sherwood and Rachel Ho, and my great friend, comrade, and inspiration Stanley Wu Photography that day. We had a crisp and traditional outfit for the groom by The Black Tux and an elegant gown and veil by Yuri C. Wedding Shoppe. Our amazing florist Katie from Going Steady Studios put together a stunning bouquet of wild blooms that perfectly complemented the pastel tones of Joshua Tree. I love shooting in the desert and this shoot was absolutely amazing!
We drove for a few miles into the park, and by a rock formation close to the entrance, away from popular sightseeing and camping sides further into the park such as the Hidden Valley Campsite. This allowed us to focus on the shoot without other park visitors getting in the way of our shots. I really like this part about Joshua Tree - the entire park is extremely photogenic, so there was no need to drive for miles to a single popular photo location!
I've been to Joshua Tree to shoot many times in the past, and it never disappoints!
